Higgsfield Genjutsu: what it does and where it stops
Higgsfield Genjutsu is a video tool that rebuilds part of a clip without a reshoot. Motion Transfer keeps the motion, camera and timing and builds a new scene around them. Object Swap changes only the element you name and leaves the rest of the shot as filmed.
Higgsfield Genjutsu takes one 4 to 30 second video and up to 30 reference images, and it outputs up to 1080p.

| Mode | Keeps | Rebuilds or changes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motion Transfer | Motion, camera and timing | The cast, location and look, built from your references | Putting a new character or world on a performance you already have |
| Object Swap | The whole shot except one element | A selected character, outfit, product, location or object | Product swaps, outfit tests and market-specific ad versions |
Both modes cost the same per run. Price is set by clip length and resolution, which is covered on the cost page.
Which Higgsfield Genjutsu mode fits your clip?
Five common situations and the mode that suits each. When two modes could work, pick the one that changes less, because it is easier to judge and to repeat.
| What you have | What changes | Mode |
|---|---|---|
| You filmed a presenter and want a different person on screen | Same performance, new face and outfit | Motion Transfer |
| You shot a product video and need a second colour or model | Only the product changes | Object Swap |
| You have one ad and need it for another country | New cast and setting, same pacing | Motion Transfer |
| You want to test three outfits on the same take | Only the clothes change | Object Swap |
| You have a cartoon clip and want a live-action look | Same movement, new style | Motion Transfer |

What is new about Higgsfield Genjutsu
Most AI video tools start from a text prompt and invent every frame. Higgsfield Genjutsu starts from footage you already have. The new part, as Higgsfield describes it, is that it can target one element and change it locally, so you do not regenerate or reshoot the rest of the scene.
That matters for three kinds of work. Creators can turn one piece of footage into several finished versions while the original movement and timing stay put. Marketers can adapt one campaign for different products or markets without rebuilding the video. Influencer-style accounts can reuse the same performance across different characters, outfits and locations.
It also lowers the writing burden. A preset can drive the entire change, and a full text prompt is not required. If you want more direction, see our short prompt templates.
Higgsfield Genjutsu compared with text-to-video
| Question | Text-to-video | Higgsfield Genjutsu |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | A text prompt | Footage you already have |
| What stays fixed | Nothing, every frame is invented | Motion, camera and timing, or everything except one element |
| Prompt needed | Usually a detailed one | Optional, a preset can do the whole job |
| Best for | Brand-new shots | Variations of a shot you already like |
The two approaches complement each other: generate a shot with text-to-video, then use Higgsfield Genjutsu to make variations of it. Higgsfield says the tool works on generated video as well as real footage.
What a Higgsfield Genjutsu run costs
Higgsfield prices a 15-second run by resolution. The generator shows the exact credit cost before you confirm.
| Resolution | Credits | Approx. price |
|---|---|---|
| 480p | 40 | $2.00 |
| 720p | 104 | $5.20 |
| 1080p | 144 | $7.20 |

The Higgsfield Genjutsu API
For developersHiggsfield also exposes Genjutsu to developers. Its API documentation lists three Genjutsu endpoints: motion transfer, object swap and restyle. A request sends a public video link, one to eight reference image links, an optional text prompt and a resolution of 480p, 720p or 1080p.
The source video must be at least four seconds, and anything over 30 seconds is trimmed to 30. Requests run asynchronously: you receive a request ID, then poll its status or wait for a webhook. Note that the API takes up to eight reference images, while the app takes up to 30. Read the official Genjutsu API page for the current schema.
Rights, consent and privacy with Higgsfield Genjutsu
Higgsfield's Terms of Use, read on Oct 5, 2026, cover four points that matter for anyone using Higgsfield Genjutsu for client or commercial work.
- Outputs are yours to use. Higgsfield does not claim ownership of outputs or restrict their commercial use, and you may transfer or sublicense your rights in outputs to your clients.
- You need consent for faces. If your footage or references show an identifiable person, you must have that person's rights and consent for the use.
- Inputs and outputs may train models. The terms say Higgsfield may use content, inputs and outputs to improve its models, so avoid uploading anything confidential.
- Do not pass AI work off as human-made. The terms prohibit representing an output as human-generated when it is not.
The same terms prohibit reselling or renting the service itself. Selling a finished video is a different thing from selling access to the tool, which is why our order service delivers videos and never account access.
Where Higgsfield Genjutsu stops
Length and inputs
One clip per run, 4 to 30 seconds. Longer videos need to be cut into shots first. Reference images top out at 30.
Only named things change
Background details and supporting people stay as filmed unless you say otherwise, so name what should be different.
Faces need pictures
A face described only in words will not hold from shot to shot. Give reference images for any character that must stay recognisable.
Audio and rights
Rebuilding the picture does not clear the rights to the original sound or footage. Make sure you may use both before you publish.
Generative results differ between runs and between reference sets. Budget a few drafts before the version you keep.
Higgsfield Genjutsu questions
What is Higgsfield Genjutsu?
Higgsfield Genjutsu is a video tool from Higgsfield that rebuilds part of an existing clip without a reshoot. It takes one 4 to 30 second video and up to 30 reference images, and it outputs up to 1080p.
What is the difference between Motion Transfer and Object Swap in Higgsfield Genjutsu?
Motion Transfer keeps the motion, camera and timing of your clip and rebuilds the scene from your references. Object Swap changes one selected character, outfit, product, location or object and leaves the rest of the original shot untouched.
Does Higgsfield Genjutsu work on AI-generated video?
Yes. Higgsfield says it works on real footage or on generated video, so you can rework a phone recording or a clip you made with another tool.
What is the maximum output resolution of Higgsfield Genjutsu?
Up to 1080p. Resolution affects the price, so a 15-second clip costs 40 credits at 480p and 144 credits at 1080p.
How is Higgsfield Genjutsu different from a text-to-video generator?
A text-to-video generator invents the whole shot from a prompt. Higgsfield Genjutsu starts from footage you already have and, in Higgsfield's words, changes a specific element locally without regenerating or reshooting the rest of the scene.
Can I sell videos made with Higgsfield Genjutsu to clients?
Higgsfield's Terms of Use say it does not restrict commercial use of outputs and that you may transfer or sublicense your rights in outputs to your clients. The same terms prohibit reselling the service itself, so sell the finished video, not access to the tool.
Do I need a Higgsfield subscription to use Genjutsu?
Genjutsu runs on Higgsfield credits. Its pricing page lists no free Genjutsu generations on the Starter plan and 3 on Plus and Ultra. If you only need a clip or two, you can order a finished video for $9.90 instead.
Where do I run Higgsfield Genjutsu?
On Higgsfield's own site. Start from the official Genjutsu page. This site explains the tool and sells a done-for-you video service, but it cannot give you access to the tool itself.
